On Friday, we added to our flock. We added a couple of birds, a lovebird and owl, that don't make any noise, mess, or require any food or care. ;) Close to being ideal companions, though I prefer my live ones hands down! Hehe.
I thought it would be extremely cute to get pictures of Mika with the mango lovebird figurine and Raptor with the coconut owl figurine. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get pictures of Raptor with the figurine at all! He kept flying away in fear and I didn't want to push it. So no cute pics of Rappy. Mika was a little better. He was very weary of this new birdy, biting it's toes (LOL), but he stayed around long enough for me to get a couple of good pictures.
These pictures are so cute it makes you want to punch kittens. LOL

Added to our flock!
Well... sort of!
The bf and I went driving around the island today. Or more like half the island because we were getting tired. Hehe. We ate brunch at Kahala Mall and came across these incredibly cute resin figurines at The Paperie! They are called the "Home Grown" collection by Enesco. They are fruit and veggie themed animals. There is something for every animal lover, I think! Fish, birds, dogs, cats, bugs, reptiles, rodents, etc.

Just a handful of the cute collection! |
I instantly fell in love with the mango lovebird (the box says "parrot") and knew I had to have him! The first thing that came to mind is, "I've got to try to get pics of Mika next to him!" I'll give that a shot tomorrow or Sunday morning. ;)

Then I noticed a coconut owl. I love cute owl things because I call my bf "Owl". So this one was another "must have" for me. :D

You'll notice in the first picture that there is a daikon (white radish) cockatiel to the right. That one is next on my list to get. After looking the collection up online, there is also another figurine I want to get that isn't available yet but is on order - a "pear" (pair) of lovebirds!! How cute is that?! There is also an avocado parrot that reminds me of a Kakapo. I may or may not want that one. We will see.
Oh, and I forgot! Even the box oozes cuteness!!

Shower coma.
Mika is the cutest little thing when he showers in the bath. He stays extremely still, closes his eyes, and goes into a shower coma. Hehe.
Nice, clean, and WARM wrapped in a towel. Love his spikey hair!!

Homemade swings.
Natacha guessed right! I ordered more s/s skewers to make swings for the boys! Not just any swings, though... foraging swings. I know Raptor will love having yet another place to retrieve treats from, while Mika will just let the treats stare him in the face if he can't get to them within the first minute or so. :P
I color coordinated the swings - blue to match Raptor's boing and yellow to match Mika's boing. We all know I love color coordination!! ;) We used gum tree branches as the swing base, and added wicker, clear cups, paper cups, etc. to the skewers for foraging opportunities.
Here is the end product of Raptor's swing:

Warm Hawaii sun (part 2).
Yesterday we took a trip out again and brought both boys with us this time. Raptor really doesn't care for car rides but he's got to get used to it! Here's Mika, cruising in the car as usual (you can see him in the tent), and Raptor... not caring for the car ride as much. LOL
First we headed out to our soon-to-be new home. It'll probably take roughly a year to renovate the house because it's old, so we have a LOT of work ahead of us. We'll be staying in our condo until it's at least near completion, though.
The boys got to spend a bit of time in the backyard basking in sunlight while the bf did most of the clean up on the back patio and I hung out on the couch, being sick. Raptor really enjoyed the new toy I made for his travel cage. I used a Mother Pluckin' Bird Toys stainless steel skewer as the base and added vine balls, yucca, balsa, other woods, and pacifiers (most toy parts came from Things for Wings) strung on green Paulie Rope - colored to go with his green themed travel cage. Lots of places to forage for treats! He really enjoyed this toy so that makes me very happy. :)
After spending most of the day at that house, we went to my parents house for dinner. The boys got to spend the rest of the day out in the backyard, watching the sun set. The boys chattered much more than usual... maybe they couldn't stop talking about how beautiful the sunset was. ;)
While we all had an awesome dinner, the boys were served with apple, broccoli, sugar snap peas, baby carrots, bird bread with LOTS of fruits and veggies mixed in, and pellets. Raptor ate some of his veggies and, as usual, Mika only ate the seeds out of his bird bread. :P Ungrateful birds, I tell ya. LOL

Warm Hawaii sun.
The bf and I went to my parents house for lunch today and we brought Mika along for the ride. He got to enjoy lots of time out in my parents beautiful backyard soaking in the warm Hawaii sun (with ample palm shade as not to overheat) while I stuffed myself with thin crust pizza. ;)
Both Mika and Rappy got new travel cages recently. They still aren't complete, as I'm waiting for color-coordinated rope perches and toys from Grey Feather Toys. Everything in Mika's cage will be yellow and Raptor's will be all green to match the cage bases. Yes, I'm a bit OCD. LOL

Some pics of the boys from today! Sorry about the quality... phone pics are just so much more convenient lately. :P My poor handheld camera gets no love. LOL
